Momentum
Definition: Is a characteristic of a moving object that depends on both the mass and the velocity of the object.
Equation: Momentum = Mass x Velocity
Math Solution: A golf ball travels at 20 m/s, while a baseball moves at 8 m/s. The mass of the golf ball is 0.055 kg and the mass of the baseball is 0.24 kg. Which has greater momentum?
Answer: M = M x V, so Golf Ball - 20m/s x 0.055kg = 1kgm/s , Baseball - 8m/s x 0.24kg = 1.92kgm/s, so the baseball has more momentum.
